Refrain from blocking corridors, access points, emergency exits, or fire escape routes with stored items, vehicles, or packaging.
Use correct manual handling techniques and avoid attempting to lift or move items that are too heavy or awkward without assistance or appropriate equipment.

Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work
We conduct regular risk assessments covering all significant activities on our site, including storage operations, loading and unloading, movement of vehicles, use of lifts and trolleys, and work undertaken by staff, customers, and removal partners.
Findings from these assessments are used to implement and maintain safe systems of work. These may include route markings, designated loading bays, capacity limits for lifts, restrictions on certain items, and guidance on safe stacking and storage of goods.
Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures
Self Storage Highbury maintains fire safety arrangements appropriate to the nature of the premises and the activities carried out. This includes fire detection and alarm systems, clearly marked emergency exits, and suitable fire-fighting equipment.
Customers, visitors, and removal teams must familiarize themselves with emergency exits and follow the instructions of staff in the event of an alarm or evacuation. Fire doors and escape routes must never be obstructed.
Certain hazardous or prohibited items must not be brought into or stored at the facility. Customers and contractors are required to comply with our storage rules regarding flammable, explosive, corrosive, or otherwise dangerous substances.
Training, Communication and Supervision
All staff receive appropriate induction and ongoing training in health and safety relevant to their roles, including hazard awareness, emergency procedures, and safe use of equipment and facilities.
Health and safety information is communicated through signage, verbal briefings, and written instructions. Where necessary, staff will provide guidance to customers and removal companies on safe access, loading, and storage practices.
Supervision will be provided to monitor compliance with this policy and to ensure any unsafe acts or conditions are addressed promptly.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
We monitor our health and safety performance through regular inspections, audits, and reviews of incidents and feedback. This policy and the associated procedures are reviewed periodically and updated when necessary to reflect changes in operations, legislation, or identified risks.
Self Storage Highbury is committed to continuous improvement in health and safety. We invite staff, customers, contractors, and removal partners to raise any concerns or suggestions for improving safety at our facility.
